From corporate logos to silk scarves, Barcelona-based designer Carrie Van Hise considers each design challenge with the same approach. Guided by mid-century design principles she strives to keep it simple while considering all the details. Her aesthetic is bold yet elegant, always taking into consideration the tension between typographic scale, white space and a well considered color palette.

Drawing from her American roots and European surroundings Carrie’s inspiration ranges from Jean-Luc Godard’s enduring moments, Alexey Brodovitch’s typographic play, the personality of Avedon imagery and the elegance of Audrey Hepburn.

With ten years experience in New York and another ten in Barcelona Carrie has designed for a broad range of brands such as IBM, SushiSamba Restaurants NYC, The Ford Foundation, artist Maya Lin, Hotel Pulitzer Barcelona and Casa Decor. Before moving to Barcelona Carrie was a principal and designer at Corsair, a brand communications and interactive agency in New York. Prior to Corsair, Carrie worked at Zona Inc., the 1990’s home store based in SoHo, New York.

She currently lives in Barcelona with her family returning to New York for inspiration whenever possible.
